Mission, Vision and Values
The Mission, Vision and Values have been developed by the PCC to reflect the churches role in community and the wider world
‘Growing in Faith and Influence Together (FIT) for Christ’s Kingdom’
✤ Growing - acknowledges a continuous process, not a one-off goal
✤ Faith - confidence in the treasure we have to offer
✤ Influence - permeating our communities with examples of faith in word and deed
✤ Together - multiplying our impact by combining talents, ideas and resources across the benefice and working with partners in our communities
✤ Kingdom - because our goal is Christ’s Kingdom of justice, we will prioritise speaking out and working for justice in:
✤ Ecology - celebrating, tending and repairing God’s creation
✤ Economy - sharing God’s goodness and serving the poor
✤ Community - valuing and including everyone; and releasing the gifts of all, including the young

As part of the ‘one, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church’, the Church of England benefice of Long Ashton, Barrow Gurney and Flax Bourton is called to share in God’s mission to the world, and to co-operate with God in building his Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. Our understanding of the shape of this mission is encapsulated in the Five Marks of Mission:
✤ To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
✤ To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
✤ To respond to human need by loving service
✤ To transform unjust structures of society
✤ To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
